safelink uses TLS 1.0 to connect and transfer information via the Internet.
The connection is encrypted using AES_256_CBC, with HMAC-SHA1 for message authentication and ECDHE_RSA as the key exchange mechanism.
Uploaded data is stored using one of the most advanced encryption methods available and is split between Facebook’s Parse database for safelink generated hyperlinks and Amazon Web Services S3 for uploaded files.
Amazon S3 is secure by default. Only the bucket and object owners originally have access to Amazon S3 resources they create. Amazon S3 supports user authentication to control access to data.
For added security, safelink employs Amazon’s the Server Side Encryption (SSE) option.
Finally as a backup to the backup to the backup in terms of security, all contents of a safelink are permanently deleted with no trace left 24 hours from link creation.
